Lead Magnet

A lead magnet is something useful a brand offers for free in exchange for contact details, usually an email address. Typical examples are a checklist, guide, template, mini-course, quiz or webinar that solves one specific problem for the people the brand wants to reach.

A good lead magnet does one thing well and quickly. It solves a narrow problem the audience already knows they have, delivers a real result within minutes and leads naturally to the next step the brand offers. A short checklist that gets used works better than a long ebook that gets downloaded and never opened.

The exchange has to be fair and clear. People should know what they will receive and what will follow, such as a newsletter or a short email series, and data protection rules require consent before adding them to a marketing list. A lead magnet is also the first sample of a brand’s work that many people see, so it deserves the same care as anything paid.
